Shameless King (Kings of Rittenhouse #1) Reviews
I received this book for free from Author in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.
I was ready to get my greedy paws on Declan and Mak's story. I'm always on the lookout for the next sexy new adult hockey series and this series may just be what I was looking for.
They're both now in college, Mak a recent transfer after she had to come back closer to home due to her father's health. The last person she wants to see is the boy who ...more
I've always preferred Enemies to Lovers trope than the BFFs turned to couples stories. I like the momentum building up between two people who hated each other's guts, then feelings slowly grow as they get stucked up with one another and could no longer get their hands off each other in the end.
Plus it's a college romance , that time where all things really start to heat up (hmm, no I don't believe in high school crush stuffs). Hockey goalie Declan McAvoy sure is the King on the Ice , b ...more
Declan McAvoy is the jock hockey player with aspiration to the NHL. Makenna Halstead is the aloof studious girl with aspirations for Stanford. They are both full of assumptions and misread each other at every pass in high school. But when a turn of events in college throws them together with the same goal, they get the chance to see each other for who they really are.
“I’d entered a different plane where a guy like Declan stood waiting for me outside work like an 80s movie version of a prince.”...more
What an amazing sports romance. I loved this story. Shameless King is such a dynamic story. It had everything I love in a college, sports, romance novel. There is secrets and drama. There is also spectacular supporting characters and wonderful scenes. This is the first in what I am hoping to be a series.
The plot of this story is interesting. Two people who have a history thrown together for the sake of the grades? Sign me up. What I think I love most about this story is that I really connected w ...more
"I wasn't going to let her forget how I made her feel. Because she made me forget anything else existed when we were together. I'd stop at nothing short of giving her everything she needed and more."
Maya Hughes, welcome to my go-to romance authors.
College romance has this something special that always makes me go back for more. When I first discovered the NA genre, I went on a college NA reading spree and I devoured any popular book falling in this subgenre that I could get my hands on. I just c ...more

I love that the opportunity to review Shameless King by Maya Hughes came up because this book was straight up amazing. What initially caught my eye was the polar opposites of the main characters, Makenna "Mak" Halstead and Declan McAvoy. I can't get enough of these types of stories and Maya Hughes most certainly delivered.
Declan is drifting though college while doing everything possible to stay on top of his game to go into the NHL. Makenna is ...more
If you love a book that involves a long rivalry, sworn up archenemy, a sassy Jock & an Ice Queen Nerd & a sizzling chemistry.
Then my dear friends meet with your new obsession - The Rittenhouse Series.
"Declan. He was the monkey wrench in the order of my life."
I enjoyed reading this book, Enemies to Lover's is my Favourite Trope. The taunts, small fights, angsty bantering, awkward moments leading up to small budding of the sweet sweet love gives me all the Feels! I live for the that kin ...more
It has been a long time since I enjoyed a college romance that much.
There was a lot of clichés we usually find in sport romance, (view spoiler)[ the manwhore hero who has women throwing themselves on him, uptight heroine, and others about their sexual experience (hide spoiler)] but the great character development and the sweet moments were worth looking past them, because those characters are so much more.
With them fighting their way to fulfilment despite their insecurities and fears ...more
